Why Gardening Education?

     Grow + Learn recognizes the successes of the urban gardening movement, as well as the potential for innovation in how access to green space may be increased and leveraged in response to communities' needs during a time of dwindling public resources. One observation is that urban gardens are mainly used by adults, while not yet widely offering activities for children commensurate with their specific needs.

     This opportunity intersects with the increasing support for multi-sensory, project-based learning methods in private and public K-12 education. Grow + Learn therefore seeks to support garden, education, and human service communities coming together to implement collaborative programs for the current time and beyond.
